“Always get your dishes done before you go to bed.” –Mom
Of course, she was right and, of course, I went many years without taking this wise counsel.
Over the course of 5 years I went from a size 18 jeans to a size 8.
I did not use a “weight loss plan”. I began by changing one thing at a time. One of the changes I made was to follow my mother’s advice. You may be thinking “How does a tidy kitchen before bed help you lose weight?”
I am much more likely to prepare a nice breakfast if my kitchen is tidy. And for some reason a tidy kitchen puts me in a better mood in the morning. Since I am in a better mood I may even put together a nice lunch. Just like that I have two healthier choices made because my kitchen was ready for me in the morning!
You may be someone who never had a problem with getting your kitchen in order for the next morning. In that case, you rock! If you are struggling to make good food choices, take a look at your routine. Is there something that is getting in the way? It could be a small change in your day will make a big impact.
I have met many people who put dates on their weight loss. Many programs do the same. I have seen friends lose a lot of weight only to gain it all back. It has taken me 5 years to get here, but I have no worries about gaining the weight back. The changes I have made and continue to make, are permanent. The truth is that weight loss was never my goal. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. The lost weight is a side effect of the desire to feel better.
I am a grandma to 5 beautiful grandchildren (and one on the way). My goals are more about what I want to do, not about how I look. We all have God given gifts, abilities and passions. If your health is keeping you from enjoying them why not make a small change and find out how it will have a big effect?
Is there someone who could use your help? My church is in need of volunteers for all sorts of things. What would it be like to have the energy to lend a hand?
I love to help people find out how easy it is! Please contact me to find out more 🙂
